Low & Slow for a Legend: Cooking for Luck Reunion & Farm Aid
🔥 Fire, Flavor & Purpose: Cooking for a Cause
At Luck Reunion, fire isn’t just for cooking—it’s a symbol of passion, perseverance, and purpose. Set against the backdrop of Willie Nelson’s legendary ranch in Luck, Texas, this gathering brings together artists, chefs, and visionaries who share a love for preserving American roots culture.
More than just a music festival, Luck Reunion carries the spirit of Willie’s lifelong mission. As a founding member and president of Farm Aid, Willie has spent 40 years fighting for America’s family farmers—raising millions to help them survive, thrive, and keep feeding this country.

Last week, we had the honor of stepping into Willie’s world, cooking alongside an incredible lineup of chefs to support Luck Reunion and Farm Aid. Our Lead Pitmaster, Fernando González, was invited by Chef Erik Bruner-Yang to take charge of a ring of fire—crafted by Mill Scale—ensuring every dish carried the rich depth of real wood cooking.
As the night unfolded, the air filled with the smoky aroma of pit-roasted meats and the unmistakable sound of live music. Then, at 9:50 sharp, the legend himself took the stage. “We are here to celebrate 40 years of Farm Aid,” Willie announced, and with the first strum of his guitar, the magic of Luck, Texas, came to life. The night wrapped up with a familiar tune:
🎶 On the road again, just can’t wait to get on the road again...

A perfect ending—but also a reminder to keep moving forward, carrying the mission, the music, and the memories with us.
A huge thank you to the incredible teams that made it all possible:
🔥 Chef Erik Bruner-Yang, Chef Ed Lee, and Chef Keetie Kumar
🔥 Auguste Escoffier School of Culinary Arts
🔥 Maie Day & Chef Michael Fojtasek
🔥 Ronin Farm & Restaurant and Executive Chef Brian Light
Together, we kept the fires burning and the energy high, making this journey both exhausting and unforgettable. Until next time, Luck Reunion—see you down the road.
